Opened in 1936 as Scone Aerodrome, the airport operated a number of scheduled airline services prior to World War 2 and then went on to train military pilots
During the war 309 and 666 Squadrons from the Royal Air Force used the aerodrome. The airport moved into civilian pilot training and is now home to Scotland's Charity Air Ambulance.
